For some time now running remote USB webcam ELP 1080P AR0330 H.264 (Full HD / 3.6mm / max 1920x1080 (FullHD ) / 9:6) over Raspberry Pi3 (running Raspbian Stretch) using a a total of 13m USB cables (3+5+5), uvcvideo driver, fswebcam to test and some scripts off a CRON job to grab frame every 15 minutes and push to website (using fswebcam to get frame and add a banner (incl. timestamp), identify to check not to dark or bright and lftp to push the frame to website).

Samsung S3: IIRC had problems at start transferring files on/off using USB, so use Explorer (Speed Software), or similar) to copy to a local network drive on router (Asus/TomatoUSB variant), then SMB mount from Linux PC. Or pull the SD card, and USB mount direct on PC.
